The Who "potenza elettrica"

The Who "electric power"

The Who are a legendary British rock band born in London in 1964, famous for their powerful energy, intense use of electric guitar and bass, extreme volumes, and heavy use of amplification. Also known for destroying their instruments on stage, they have left an indelible mark on the history of rock. The classic lineup features Pete Townshend on guitar, Roger Daltrey on vocals, John Entwistle on bass, and Keith Moon on drums, creators of masterpieces such as My Generation and Who's Next.

1960s (The Mods): Originally known as The High Numbers, in 1964 they took the name The Who. The band quickly gained popularity thanks to the success of My Generation and energetic performances, often culminating in the destruction of instruments on stage.

The Rock Opera Evolution: Under the creative guidance of Pete Townshend, the group embarked on a more sophisticated musical path. In 1969 they released Tommy, one of the first rock operas, which catapulted them onto the international scene. In the same year, they cemented their status with a legendary performance at the Woodstock festival.

The 1970s and Iconic Albums: In 1971 they released Who's Next, considered one of their masterpieces, followed in 1973 by Quadrophenia, an album that deeply explores the mod movement and its culture.

Tragedies and the Present: Despite the loss of drummer Keith Moon in 1978 and bassist John Entwistle in 2002, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend have continued to perform as The Who, carrying forward their musical legacy. In 2019 they released the album WHO, reaffirming their presence on the scene.
